Mr. Shyam Nokta is a Technical Adviser to His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali in the area of climate change and biodiversity. Mr. Nokta previously served as Head of Guyana’s Office of Climate Change, in the Office of the President, where he played a key role in overseeing Guyana’s response to climate change and the development and implementation of Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS). Mr. Nokta has been involved in key conservation initiatives in Guyana and the setting up of Guyana’s National Protected Areas System. He is currently Chair of the Protected Areas Trust and a Board Member of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund.
